After a longer period without these gruesome incidents, we had a slight hope the law enforcement may have accidentally caught the murderer. Sadly, dear readers, it appears, he simply left our city during the flooding season (like many of the established and high-ranking townsfolk do. Could this be another example indicating the murderer is one of them?). There are rumors of a similar murder in the highlands of the crescent fountain. Local authorities found the body of a young woman completely drained of blood. I was able to track down the man who found the victim and later alerted the authorities: – “I found her near the riverbank laying in the gras. First, I thought she might be asleep, but then..”- the poor man shudders and shakes his head in disbelief. “She was a pretty young thing, not a day over 25, if I remember correctly. Such a shame, really.. I can’t think of anyone who didn’t like Sami*.”- (* I took the liberty of changing the name to protect my source and the victim’s family). Since the victim also had the Z slashed into her flesh, the highlands security department contacted our very own Chief of Security, Sir Graham Zealon. Their working theory: the “Z” mark on the victims is a direct message for Sir Zealon. The only answer of our dear Chief regarding this theory: – “Don’t be ridiculous de Bour. Even if it was, you know full well I will not discuss this with the likes of you!” –
As the city’s security department still has not informed the civilians about this particular case and how one may take precautions, I will now make it my responsibility to give you all the facts: The murderer seems to target women between the age of 20 to 35, all of the now eight victims had dark hair and were well-loved in their community. They were -to my knowledge- all found near water, dressed in black with the “Z” marked on their body.
Since flooding season is almost over and this twisted individual most likely returns to the city, I implore you to accompany your wives, daughters, sisters, mothers and neighbors on their way to work and otherwise. And most of all, be wary of strangers. It is my opinion the murderer comes from within the higher ranks of society and may lure young women in with his elegant appearance and charm. This would explain why our city’s security department almost seems to hush up this whole affair. I sincerely hope the idea that these women are meant as personal taunting messages for Sir Zealon, appeals to his conscience or, if in lack thereof, his pride as Chief of Security.
